This is the mechanical cleaning equipment of wastewater treatment plants, which is located generally after the mechanical screen, and it separates the sand content of waste water from which the screenings have already been removed.

It handles and dewaters the sandy sludge of the sand trap facility in case of large quantities of waste water. The equipment includes an inclined auger having no shaft for removing the sand, which seats on a wearing plate. It can be supplemented also with a sand washer unit if required, which reduces the bacteria content of the sand, thus mitigating the risk of infection.

The operations of filtering the screenings and the separation of sand are combined in these compact wastewater pre-treatment equipment. Their design varies depending on the capacity and the manufacturing company. Grease trap unit may also be ordered with the equipment, if required.

One of their great advantages is that they require less space because of the integrated design, and they are less expensive relative to the case when a separate machine is used for each function.

The equipment can be made from stainless steel (1.4301) or acid resistant steel (1.4571). Their maintenance is easy and cost effective.
